I had a rough night with my sleep last night. I was woken from my sleep at 2 am with horrible stomach upset and gas pains. I’m not sure what caused them but I was awake for a good hour and a half. I watched a bit of tv and went back to bed at 3:30. When I went back to bed I had horrible nightmares so it wasn’t a very restful sleep for me last night. :(
I got up this morning at around 9 a.m. and had a quick breakfast. I had 3 slices of back bacon along with 2 eggs fried in butter. Mmmm. I met up with Jo and Crystal in lower Montague and we did an 8 k run. I felt exhausted after only 10 minutes and thought “Crap, there’s no way I’m going to get through this.” I decided to keep going though and slowed myself down when needed. The weather was beautiful for the run today – 15 degrees Celsius! I thought “Suck it up Kimmers, you know you can do this.” After about 15 minutes of running things got better and I can definitely say there was an improvement from Thursday night’s run. My cardio definitely isn’t as great as it was when I started the Primal program 16 days ago. In all fairness though I haven’t been running as much as I used to though. The plan is to get back to running 3 times a week and get prepped to run two 5 km races in May before my jaw surgery. Jo is going to have us try some electrolyte drinks next week so we can get of fee of what works best for us during the run. We were pretty dry by the end of our 8k run without water but I LOVED the warm weather! Gotta love ditching the winter jacket and running in just a tank top and light pants. Next goal is running skirt! :)
Today was extremely productive. After the run I made a trip to town and finished up my Easter shopping. Roy and I came back home and did some more major cleaning and purging around the house. I’m very pleased with the amount of junk we are throwing out and donating. It’s wonderful being able to see my son’s floor again. ;) I bought some clear plastic containers at the SuperStore tonight for organizing his toys. Instead of everything going into one big toy box I have them separated. Toy cars in one see through container with a lid, plastic play men in another, etc. The boxes are stacked in his closet so he can easily identify the toys he wants to play with and put them back when he’s done. I’m really hoping this organized system will work. I know it’s going to take effort but if everyone follows along I think things will work out much better.
With everything being so busy today I missed lunch but had bbq steak for supper when we got back. It was so yummy. I’m hoping the weather will be nice for the next few days so we can bbq some more. :) No sugary sauces just plain meat fired on the bbq. It was great!
My family and I will be having dinner at Mom’s tomorrow so I will be enjoying the holiday and allowing for a few non Primal additions. I know this fits in with Mark’s 80/20 rule so I’m not stressed about it in the least. Like we’ve said before it’s all about vitality and making the best choices 80% of the time and enjoying special events and treats the other 20% of the time. I’m not really keen on having dressing and dessert but I think a little bit will be okay. My mom plans on making strawberry shortcake for dessert which I know will be yummy. :)
I hope everyone else is doing well! My weight is still holding strong at the same spot due to water retention. I’m expecting this to drop in the next 5 days. I will be sure to keep everyone posted. :)
I hope everyone has a lovely Easter! Take care.
